The Masdeu vineyard, facing southeast and replanted in 1974, is one of the vineyards that the monks had planted with Grenache for centuries. It is located on the slopes of the Montsant, in the vineyard located at the highest altitude of the Cellers de Scala Dei vineyards (around 800 metres at its highest point). The soil is red clay and limestone.
The grapes are harvested in October, during the third week, just as the monks. We put the crushed grapes in small vats, and use 100% of the stems in the fermentation process. This is carried out in a small 3,500 litre cement tank, to imitate the temperature changes of the fermentations of the last century.
