Scala Dei Historic Vines
Three exclusive, limited edition wines from historic vineyards
Massipa is the only white grape vineyard of Cellers de Scala Dei. It is the only white wine of our winery's Garnatxes project. It is located next to Masdeu, facing southeast at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level. Scala Dei Massipa is a creamy, elegant and fresh wine. Its aromas of white fruit, floral notes and Mediterranean herbs stand out. With Massipa we reissue the "Blanc de Scala Dei", one of our oldest wines and with which we show the freshest side of the Priorat white Grenache.
Vinified ancestrally and aged for almost 18 months in cement tanks and foudres, this single-vineyard wine is made from Grenache vines planted in 1974 in clay-limestone soils at almost 800 metres above sea level.
The vineyards from which Sant Antoni is made were cultivated with Grenache at least 350 years ago. With it we have recovered a winemaking heritage that had practically disappeared in Priorat. We use 100% stems and make the wine in cement vats, as was done from the time of the Carthusian monks and until the end of the 1970s. With Sant Antoni we want to show how Priorat expresses itself. A wine that represents the finesse, freshness and elegance of the varietal, an expressive, fresher Grenache with a Mediterranean character. With notes of undergrowth, rosemary and thyme, a slight touch of violets, very ripe and liquorice black fruit, quite mineral, aromas of fine toast and slightly spicy. A wine with a very long and elegant finish.
